(New York, NY May 13, 2010)—Anchor Books announces the paperback publication of #1 worldwide bestseller, THE LOST SYMBOL by Dan Brown, with a 4 million copy first printing in premium mass market format on October 19, 2010 ($9.99).  This will mark the first appearance of last year’s bestselling hardcover fiction title in paperback format in North America.

Following Anchor’s paperback release, Doubleday will publish The Lost Symbol Special Illustrated Edition in hardcover on November 2, 2010 ($35.00).  Brown’s record-breaking novel weaves a breathtaking trail through the hidden artwork, chambers, tunnels and temples of Washington D.C. Now the fascinating visuals come to life on the page, revealing a world of ancient mysteries, stunning history and secret societies. Over one hundred full-color images are featured throughout this lavishly illustrated gift edition—an essential companion to the original.

Dan Brown’s runaway bestseller, THE LOST SYMBOL, has sold more than 5.5 million copies in North America, since it was published on September 15, 2009. The novel broke all Random House, Inc. sales records when it sold one million copies in its first day on-sale, and hit another Random House landmark when it sold two million copies in its first week.  THE LOST SYMBOL has been optioned for film by Columbia Pictures.

Doubleday and Anchor Books are imprints of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, a division of Random House, Inc. whose parent company is Bertelsmann AG.  For more information about Doubleday or Anchor Books please visit our websites at www.doubleday.com or www.anchorbooks.com.  For more information about Dan Brown please visit www.danbrown.com.
