I just learned about George Prochnik’s book through reading John Broening’s commentary in The Denver Post (Aug 1). I’m such a believer in surrounding myself with peace and beauty, and I’m greatly looking forward to reading George’s book about the benefits of silence. I too am a writer – having written a non-fiction book on the Amish.
I avoid stores with trash music and people who are constantly in another sphere while talking and texting on cell phones. I’ll comment again after I’ve read the book! Many thanks for exploring this subject. Jan Folsom
