Jon Krakauer’s Afghan Diary

Jon Krakauer’s Afghan Diary

As part of his research for Where Men Win Glory, Jon Krakauer was embedded with American and Afghan forces in May and June 2006, and from December 2006 through February 2007. Until his camera succumbed to the rough conditions, he occasionally shot video while accompanying these soldiers on combat missions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

  1. Jim Wilkerson says:

In an interview, Krakauer talked about being a good editor of his own stuff–not a good writer. As a writing teacher, I would love to be able to show my students how Krakauer’s work evolved over multiple edits. Any way to see earlier drafts of a few sections?
